Personal Bio
I'm Katie Scheuber (they/them) and I live in Chicago, USA. Initially from Joliet, IL - I moved to Chicago in 2013. I graduated with a BA in Digital Cinema, concentrating on Documentary Production and double majoring in Peace, Justice, & Conflict Studies from DePaul University from 2013-2017. This evolved to pursuing my Master of Public Administration at UIC from 2018-2019. I also obtained a Geospatial Analysis & Visualization Certificate. I attended a Sexual Assault 40-Hour Training & Domestic Violence 40-Hour Training the summer of 2017, and began volunteering at YWCA Evanston’s domestic violence shelter. This led to a position with YWCA’s Building Healthy Relationships team under their Violence Prevention programming. From here I transitioned into the role of Housing Specialist & Coordinated Entry DV Assessor. I worked with survivors of domestic violence in navigating next steps with housing or shelter needs. I left YWCA in 2021 and began working with Connections For the Homeless as the Drop In Supervisor primarily at Hilda’s Place. I was there for about one year and left to take Katie Makes Films full time in May, 2022. Katie Makes Films actually started in 2015 however, when I made my first music video for a coworker while working at Walgreens.
I offer professional photography and videography services. I’m one person, but I have a trusted network of other photographers and videographers I can reach out to as well for your project’s needs. I have worked on a variety of projects over the years and don’t necessarily have a niche - I’m doing a little bit of everything at the moment. I will work on set if you need additional crew, I can assist with editing. I’ve also worked with nonprofits on providing trainings & consultation about nonprofit management. Aside from photography, videography, and work with nonprofits, I also referee rugby primarily in the Chicagoland area. My wife and I live in Belmont Cragin with our many pets and houseplants. I have a little studio space I’ve been working on and really things are just getting started so stay tuned!
